Museum of City History Dessau
Vis à vis the Mulde River, it is worth visiting the Museum of City History on the history of the Ascanians in the Johann Building.
Admission is free with the World HeritageCard.
A must-see is the small country house with English landscape garden built by Prince Franz of Anhalt-Dessau. Luisium Palace and Park are part of the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Kingdom and have been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.

Anhalt Picture Gallery
Alternatively, visit the newly opened exhibition in September 2022 in the newly renovated Georgium Palace – home of the Anhalt Picture Gallery. Its holdings of paintings, drawings and prints make it the most important collection of Old Masters in Saxony-Anhalt.

Open Air Museum Reppichau
On the way to Köthen we recommend a detour via Reppichau to visit the first open-air museum of German legal history and the special art project Sachsenspiegel.
