In the footsteps of big names

The Anhalt realm of ideas stands for enlightenment, modernity and reformation. Johann Sebastian Bach composed in Köthen (Anhalt), Walter Gropius designed the Bauhaus in Dessau and the later Russian Tsarina Catherine the Great came from Zerbst/Anhalt. In Bernburg, the castle, the “crown of Anhalt”, sits picturesquely on the banks of the Saale. Discover this over 800 years old Anhalt as one of the oldest and most important cultural landscapes in Germany, which offers interesting places of work of many famous personalities – embedded in fabulously beautiful landscapes, parks and gardens. We recommend: Stay overnight in the middle of Anhalt, for example in Dessau, in a hotel that has the World HeritageCard in its package.
